Seed Technologies
Pregerminated Seed Technology
PreNova® and PreMagic® are innovative technologies, not merely a new way of counting. These exclusive, patented technologies are fundamentally different than primed seed or indexed lots. The process enhances the seed itself, and allows for removal of dead or abnormal seeds, so you get essentially 100% viable seeds. No waiting for a primable lot; you get what you ordered when you need it. And, with PreNova, you get nine months of shelf life, with no special handling required other than refrigeration. All S&G-bred pansies, violas and impatiens are available as pregerminated seed.
SafeCoat® Seed Treatment
SafeCoat seed treatment improves sowability and protects seedlings against diseases. The fungicide stays close to the emerging radical and new root system to protect young plants when and where they’re most vulnerable. Because the fungicide is sealed within a coating, it’s much safer to handle than conventional fungicide treatments. SafeCoat improves water absorption in scarified seed, for faster and more consistent germination. SafeCoat treated seed delivers a more uniform finished crop with higher usable counts. The SafeCoat treatment is standard on all S&G-bred geranium seed.
Detailed Marigold Seed
Success begins with great seed and great seed treatments. Detailed marigold seed increases sowing rates and reduces labor by decreasing clumping and hang-ups in automated equipment.

Film Coated Seed
S&G’s brightly colored, film-coated seed flows faster through equipment, and simplifies sowing inspection. By enhancing uniformity, film-coating seed helps lower production costs and reduce labor. Film-coated seed is available for S&G’s Fresco™ Mix and Harlequin™ Mix dahlia, as well as many of our marigold offerings.

Pelleted Seed
Uniformly shaped, pelleted seed flows smoothly through automated sowing systems, and improves seed placement in cells. The bright yellow pellet breaks down quickly and doesn’t interfere with germination or seedling development. Look for pelleted seed in ageratum, alyssum, begonia, calceolaria, petunia and select dwarf snapdragon.
Multi-Seed Pellets
With S&G’s multi-seed pellets, you can easily place multiple seeds in a cell, improving sowing efficiency. When trays pass through the seeder just once, you save time and labor. The vividly colored coat also improves quality control. All of the seed lobelia in our assortment, including S&G’s Moon™ series, are available as multi-seed pellets.
Primed Seed
Using S&G’s primed seed is a great way to achieve faster, more uniform germination. Primed seed performs over a wide range of conditions, yielding quicker turns, more cost-effective use of bench space, and higher margins. Look for primed seed in pansy and verbena.
